Clinical Research

PH Javara

Our Practice Participates in Clinical Trials in Partnership with Javara.
Discuss with your Physician Today.

We conduct clinical trials to help find new and better ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating disease.  Results from clinical trials help determine if a medicine or medical device is ready to go to market.

As a participant in a trial, you may receive access to treatments and diagnostics that may not otherwise be available and that could potentially lead to improved health outcomes.  Additionally, you may receive compensation for study time and/or travel.

If you are potentially eligible for a study, you may be contacted by a Javara research team member on our behalf to see if you are interested.  Privia’s Notice of Privacy Practices  describes how your data may be shared with our trusted partners for research purposes.  Participation in a clinical trial is always 100% optional and your access to medical care will not be impacted if you choose not to participate.

We offer clinical trials that we believe will allow us to improve the quality of care of our patients.  Read our letter to patients about clinical research here.

Radiology

Radiological Services

Stephenville Medical & Surgical Clinic offers the convenience of radiological services.

State-Certified Radiology Department

The radiology department is certified by the State of Texas and provides quality services performed by dedicated, highly qualified registered technicians. Our services include radiographics / X-rays, mammograms, sonograms, and nuclear medicine.

Experienced Staff

Dr. Nanette Evans, radiologist, and Marsha Rogers and Claire Cole, mammography technicians, are dedicated to providing the best care possible. Friendly and compassionate, they make an otherwise uncomfortable procedure bearable. We are fortunate to have all three providing services at Stephenville Medical & Surgical Clinic!

3-D Mammography

With early detection, the five-year breast cancer survival rate is almost 100%. 3-D mammography can detect breast cancer up to 15 months earlier than standard mammography.

It also detects 41% more invasive cancers, while reducing false alarms by up to 40%. Call us today at 254-968-6051!

Advanced Technology

The Genius 3-D Mammography™ exam is the first and only clinically superior breast exam that takes images of multiple levels of tissue. This is also approved by the FDA.

The exam is similar to a conventional 2-D mammogram (the ones you are accustomed to having done at SMSC).

Clearer Images

You will be positioned by the technologist, the breasts will be compressed, and images from different angles will be obtained.

There is no extra compression required, but the images are with better details, and the radiologist views the breast tissue in layers instead of a flat image

SMSC has earned a Breast Image Center of Excellence designation from the American Center of Radiology. SMSC can perform all breast services including: 2D and 3D Mammograms, Breast Ultrasounds, and Stereotactic Breast Biopsies. We provide the convenience of local with the assurance of quality.

Allergy Testing

Allergy Clinic

We partner with Allergy Services of America, LLC (ASA) that enables us to provide a full spectrum of allergy testing and immunotherapy to patients. Testing and treatment is done at the clinic. We have a state-of-the-art facility where we conduct our allergy testing procedure. We have a dedicated staff trained as allergy technicians under the supervision of ASA’s Director of Clinical Allergy Services. This makes the process efficient removing the need to outsource the allergy testing procedure.

Skin Testing

A physician may recommend an allergy skin testing to pinpoint specific allergens which causes certain symptoms to manifest. The skin testing is usually performed with allergen extracts to assess your skin’s reaction to allergen(s).

Allergen Immunotherapy

Allergen immunotherapy commonly known as allergy shots, is a long-term treatment that aims to decrease the symptoms of people suffering from allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis or eye allergy or stinging insect allergy. This is a cost-effective approach that benefits a lot of people.

Subcutaneous Immunotherapy

Subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) is a distinct therapy intended for allergic disease. This type of therapy provides symptomatic relief to patients while it modifies the allergic disease by targeting the underlying immunological mechanism.

Sublingual Immunotherapy

Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) is a type of therapy which is also known as immunotherapy that allows a patient to place drops of allergen extracts under their tongue. Also known as “allergy drops,” SLIT is a substitute treatment for allergy shots. SLIT is painless and can be administered by the patient at home.

Summary

More than 50 million people in United States suffer from allergies, and an estimated 55 percent of all U.S. citizens test positive to one or more allergens. The good thing to know is that allergies can be managed with the use of various treatment programs that are available today. These treatments will lead to a better quality of life for people suffering from various types of allergies. If you think that you may be suffering from allergies and the symptoms are recurring, consult your Primary Care Physician immediately.

If your doctor confirms you are susceptible to environmental allergens, ask your doctor if you are a candidate for Immunotherapy (SCIT or SLIT). For more information, contact us at (254) 968-6051 Extension 4223.
