New Patient Intake Process

We are excited to announce a new technology to modernize our patient intake process. We have partnered with Phreesia to allow patients to pre-register for appointments prior to arrival, even in the comfort of their own home. The process is simple, patients will receive a registration prompt with their appointment reminder via text message or email.

With Phreesia Mobile, patients can complete their registration from wherever they feel most comfortable and safe—at home, in their car or from another personal space. They can also update their clinical and demographic information, take a photo to store in their patient record, capture images of their driver’s license and insurance card, sign forms and policies, and pay copays and outstanding balances—all from the privacy and ease of their own device.

Phreesia has been rated #1 in Patient Intake Management by KLAS in 2022 and Best in KLAS four years running.

This new feature will be a phased implementation beginning with patients of Dr. Marcum, Dr. Banks, Dr. Nash and Dr. Boucher. For more information, please contact your provider’s office receptionist.

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Could it be allergies?

In this part of Texas, if you have a dull ache behind your eyes, stuffy nose, and itchy throat, it’s likely that your sinus has had a run in with what’s in the air. More than 50 million people in United States suffer from allergies, and an estimated 55 percent of all U.S. citizens test positive to one or more allergens.

You can start by treating your symptoms with an over-the-counter allergy medication, irrigate your nasal passages with warm water solution from a neti pot and drink lots of water. Around the house, keep windows and doors closed as much as possible to keep pollens from coming inside, vacuum carpets and rugs regularly and change your air filters monthly. If you don’t find relief from home remedies, the Allergy Clinic at SMSC can help.

We partner with Allergy Services of America, LLC (ASA) that enables us to provide a full spectrum of allergy testing and immunotherapy to patients. Testing and treatment is done at the clinic. We have a state-of-the-art facility where we conduct our allergy testing procedure. We have a dedicated staff trained as allergy technicians under the supervision of ASA’s Director of Clinical Allergy Services. This makes the process efficient removing the need to outsource the allergy testing procedure.

If you think that you may be suffering from allergies and the symptoms are recurring, consult your Primary Care Physician. If your doctor confirms you are susceptible to environmental allergens, contact us at (254) 968-6051 Extension 4223.

National Immunization Awareness Month

Stay on track with your child’s vaccinations.

As a parent, you want to keep your children safe. Routine childhood vaccinations are an important way to ensure that your child and community remain healthy and protected against serious diseases, like measles and whooping cough.

Now that in-person activities and play have resumed, the providers at Stephenville Medical & Surgical Clinic, PA encourage parents to make sure children are up to date on routinely recommended vaccines. Well-child visits and check-ups are essential for routine vaccination, even during the pandemic.

You can also review the 2022 easy-to-read immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  If you’re pregnant, now is a great time to find a doctor for your baby and schedule a visit to discuss any questions you have about vaccines.

Javara provides clinical research access for patients at the point of care by embedding staff and infrastructure into large healthcare organizations, resulting in greater access to cutting-edge innovations while expediting FDA approval through reliable, robust data.

Consider joining Dr. Ben Marcum, Josh Carswell, PA, Cortney Fanning, FNP, Lesslie Bull, CNM, and the Javara staff in a clinical research study to help us learn more about treatment options.

Early Detection Saves Lives

As the only ACR Designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in the Cross Timbers area, the Breast Clinic at Stephenville Medical & Surgical Clinic is ready to help you detect breast cancer early.  Dr. Nanette Evans, Director of Radiology & Mammography, voiced concern that because of COVID, standard detection mammograms may be being postponed.  Early detection is always the goal; we don’t want to wait on our preventative exams.

At SMSC, we are taking extra precaution with our patients who are scheduled for routine exams.  Masks are required for both patients and staff.  When you get into the exam room, our machines are sanitized after every use, staff uses sanitizer for hands and surfaces and masks remain on at all times.

An order from your doctor is not required for private pay individuals to receive screening exams and most insurance plans allow preventative mammography services once per year.  Call now to schedule your appointment, don’t wait.

We have also partnered with the Moncrief Cancer Institute to offer an assistance program for 3D mammography, for those who qualify.   This is a great deal for our community!  Simply call us and we can get you in contact with Moncrief for the qualification process.

We will offer our October mammogram special of $75 for a 2D screening mammogram and $125 for 3D screening mammogram but you must call to schedule your visit in October.  This fee also includes the reading of the exam.  Call us at (254) 968-6051 ext 4282.

October Mammogram Special

October is breast cancer awareness month and we are once again offering mammograms at a special rate of $75.00 (2D) or $125.00 (3D) for patients without insurance or patients with a high deductible. Call us at 254-968-6051 ext 4282 to see if you qualify.

Dr. Nanette Evans reads and consults on all mammograms performed at the SMSC Breast Clinic.
